Bison School
Bison School is a two-act deep ecology play designed to introduce young adults into re-wilding our behavior by observing nature through a non-human lens. As the play unfolds, a young bison deep in America’s history learns to communicate with prairie dogs, mastodon and musk oxen who share the land with his herd 100,000 years ago. With his newly acquired interspecies communications skill, the young bison saves his community from being consumed by an out of control wildfire.
Re-Wilding
The most serious disease humans suffer from today is our separation from Nature. While the cure is quite simple, it requires us to heal this alienation.
Taking Our Bison Out for a Walk
Ride around in our bison’s body, feeling what it feels... like a driver in control of a bison body and give yourself a taste of what it feels to see the world through non-human eyes. Enjoy your Bison Spirit as we walk through the grasslands, letting our human side fade while letting our bison senses come to the forefront.
Shape-Shifting
One must ‘shapeshift’ to enter certain areas of the spirit world that are ‘off limits’ to humans. Breaking out of our specie-centrism requires a guided visualization journey into the spirit of the non-human. This movement workshop encourages us to imitate the walk, gait, growl, sound and scent of the anima of your soul. Invite the bison spirit inside of you and encourage your biocentrism.
Spirit Painting
Bear School Retreats are supernatural experience in which an individual seeks to interact with a guardian spirit, usually an anthropomorphized animal, to obtain advice or protection. Variations of these retreats into the caves have been found among indigenous peoples around the world
